Climate change has wrought heartbreaking devastation to our planet. Delicate ecosystems are breaking down, and extreme weather events are punishing and destroying our precious wildlife, in horrifying numbers. In this work, I wanted to make the strongest possible statement. Two birds cry out in anguish, against a background structure that represents humankind’s influence and intrusion into the natural world. As fire consumes them, the birds are disappearing, depicted as dotted outlines representing their imminent transformation to ash. This is surely our red alert!
