Inspired by the beauty of the natural world, “Meeting of the Birds” is a metaphor for the interconnectedness of all living things, where birds and flora converge over water in an avian conference of kinds.
As a colourful and decorative work, the composition is unusual. The detailed line work is concentrated around the periphery of the canvas, pointing towards the the painting’s centre, which functions as a central resting place for both the viewer’s eye and of course, the birds.
